Healing the Gut

My main prevention plan for avoiding bladder infections has involved me making some changes to my lifestyle and, perhaps more importantly, to my diet. This works really well for me 99% of the time. But every now and then, life gets in the way...

Now I want to work on my back up plan – having a strong immune system. A strong immune system will help to make a body that is able to fight off infections no matter what ups and downs I am going through at the time.

Obviously the diet and lifestyle factors do have a massive impact on your immune system. But an immune system which is robust will not falter from a little bit of disruption to this from time to time. A strong body has the capacity to filter out toxins to a certain degree, it is only when they get to breaking point that the immune system begins to let things slip through.

There are so many ways to go about healing the immune system, it can be hard to know where to begin but I have decided to start my gut.

Gut health is crucial to a strong immune system. Impaired gut health leads to things like allergies and a body that is susceptible to infection. If your gut health is impaired, it will likely have a problem absorbing all the nutrients from the food it is given. Poor gut health has been linked to things as disparate as autism, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

I'm hoping that once my gut is healed, it will have the capacity to fight off my bladder infections but also to help my body to be healthy for the rest of my life.

I'd love to know what you think. What have you done to heal your gut? How do you think healing your gut could impact your life?
