I'm getting a bladder Infection every two weeks!

I'm only 18 but I have been getting chronic bladder infections. I got one last year and then ever since then I seem to get them about every two weeks. I don't know what to do. :(

I have lost all faith in the doctors because they don't seem to take it seriously. I have been asking for a referral to a specialist but they don't think that I have had enough infections. They just give me more antibiotics and test my urine again.

I must have had at least 20 infections since last year. It's ruining my life. What can I do?

So sad to hear you can't get rid of water infections ethier im 20 and have been getting them since I was 16 the doctors never do anything to help just antibiotics and send a sample off but they don't seem to help anymore I get water infections once a week atleast now and I find it gets worse if I don't drink enough water or drink to much of anything other than water. I also take cranberry tablets everyday sometimes twice a day and they work miracles for me!

I'm in the same boat
by: Ash

I am exactly in the same boat!!! The only difference is I am 25. This is making me so depressed. I have tried Ayurveda, homeopathy and everything possible. I have stopped planning vacations with the fear to not have to common toilets. Antibiotics have now become a part of my life.

Please do let me know if you find any solution. It will be very helpful.

Thank you,

What you can do
by: Georgia

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you are getting them so often. I know from experience how painful it is and how much of your life it seems to take over.

What steps have you taken to avoid getting them in the future?

When you had your first infection, it sounds like you would have received antibiotics for it. This may well have weakened your immune system overall and left you open to getting more bladder infections.

Because you are getthing them so often, it is also likely that there is something in your normal routine which your body is not liking very much.

Common things to look for are:

Holding on from going to the toilet
Sex hygiene
Sugar intake
Immune system

Reviewing some hygiene tips, drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet are a great place to start to figure out what is causing them in you.

The more you can focus on prevention the better you will be, as then you don't need a magic treatment.

It can take time and energy to figure out what is causing repeated bladder infections, but once you do, you'll feel so much better.

Hope you are able to get on top of this soon and figure out what is causing your bladder infections.

xx Georgia
